Where are the games held?

• Under-6 games are held in the Fall atLombardo Park, located on 22 Mile Rd. between Van Dyke and Schoenherr.  In the Spring, the Under-6 games are held at Whispering Woods Park, located on 21 Mile Rd. between Van Dyke and Schoenherr.
• Under-8, Under-10, and Under 12 games are held at Whispering Woods Park.
• Under-14 home games are held at Macomb Corners Park, located on the north side of 25 Mile Rd., east of Romeo Plank.  Under-14 away games are played in Rochester, Lake Orion, and Independence Twp.

Where do we practice?

• Practice locations are up to individual coaches, but are normally held at Utica Community Schools fields, where USL has permits to practice. (see field location page)

Do I have to live in Shelby or Utica or Macomb in order to play in the United Soccer League?

• No, however games and practices are held in these locations.

Why do we play small sided games and not 11 against 11 at the younger age groups?

• Small sided games (3 v 3 for the Under-6, 6 v 6 for the Under-8 and Under 10 and 8 v 8 for the Under-12) afford the players more touches on the ball, and a chance to make more decisions with the ball at their feet.  This leads to quicker player development and more enjoyment of the game. 

Why is the registration fee different for the different age groups?

• The registration fee reflects the differences in expenses incurred by the different age groups.  Under-6 games do not require referee fees.  Under-14 games reflect the higher referee costs as well as the field rental expense for Macomb Corners.

Why is the Fee to play just in the Spring $95?

• The fee reflects the fixed costs associated with registering a player, uniform costs, and insuring a player.  These fixed costs are the same for a half year or an entire year.

Where is skill training held?

�         Skill training is held at Henry Ford II High School located at 11911 Clinton River Rd. Sterling Hgts., MI 48313

Who can come to skill training?

• All USL players Under-10 and younger.

Is there a family discount plan?

• Yes, there is a $10 discount for each additional child after the first one.

Can a team be made with 5 (or more) friends?

• Teams are rearranged each year and will be a mixture of new players and more experienced players.  This ensures that all-star teams will not be formed so no one team will dominate an age group.  This is a recreational league, and participation and enjoyment is more important than winning.  For better, more competitive players, travel soccer with VARDAR EAST should be your option.

What is the VARDAR EAST Soccer Club?

• The VARDAR EAST Soccer Club is the travel division of USL.  USL has had travel teams for more than 20 years.  The USL travel division changed its name to VARDAR EAST in 2006.  Try-outs for VARDAR EAST take place on June 15^th and 16^th, at Macomb Corners.
